Semifinals ready for Leagues A & B in Girls U-15 Championship

MIAMI – The final matchday in the group stage of the 2024 Concacaf Girls’ U-15 Championship took place on Thursday, with great performances across the three leagues.

League A is taking place in Alajuela, Costa Rica. League B matches are hosted in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, and League C encounters are held in Oranjestad, Aruba.

League A: Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico, and USA to semis

The action resumed in League A, with four teams qualifying for this year’s semifinals, at the Proyecto Gol Fields in Alajuela, Costa Rica.

Hosts Costa Rica were the first ones to book a semifinal spot after a 4-nil win against Jamaica, with goals from Veronica Solano in the 34’, Nubia Medina in the 41’, Isska Chaverri in the 54’, and Lucia Paniagua in the 70’+3.

The United States closed a perfect group stage with a 13-nil win over Haiti. Stelar performances from Kendall Conway, who scored a hat-trick (2’, 17’, 35’+1), and Mak Whitham, who sealed a brace (70’, 70’+2), propelled the defending champions to victory.

Mexico won 3-1 against Canada, with a hat-trick by Evelyn Contreras (25’, 47’, 54’), to earn their spot in the semifinals. The Canadians pulled one goal back in the 52’, thanks to Alyssa McLeod, and also advanced to the next round.

League B: Trinidad and Tobago advance to next round

League B also took back the pitch to define the semifinalists in this division across the Hasely Crawford Stadium and Larry Gomes Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago.

Hosts Trinidad and Tobago penned its name in the semifinals with a 5-nil victory over Grenada. The goals of the evening came from the boots of Hackeermar Goodridge in the 3’, Scarlett Cole in the 13’, Shemaiah Toussaint in the 48’, Alliyah Baptiste in the 61’ before Mia Lee Chong closed the scoring in the 67’.

Guatemala booked its place in the semifinals with a 1-0 win against local club Trinidad & Tobago High Performance. Yemi Rios scored the lone goal in the 35'+1.

Honduras earned its place among the last four with a 2-2 draw against Cuba. The Honduran goals came from Daniela Rodriguez in the 59’ and Paula Ramirez in the 70'+3 while Cuba’s two stemmed from Lis Marian and Yaiselis López.

League C: Final matchday in Round One awaits

The teams in League C partook in the penultimate matchday of Round One at the Guillermo P. Trinidad Stadium in Oranjestad, Aruba.

Bonaire earned its second win in a row against Anguilla, 0-1. Geraldine Alberto scored the match-winning goal in the 70‘+4.

Guyana earned a 1-nil win against Guadeloupe with a goal from Sydney Glean in the 35’+2.
