Nicaragua tops Cayman Islands to qualify for Concacaf Under-17 Championship

BRADENTON, Florida Nicaragua is on its way to the 2019 Concacaf Under-17 Championship after defeating Cayman Islands 3-0 on Sunday in the final matchday of Group A of CU17 Qualifying.

The win earned the Pinoleros nine points and top spot in Group A, two points ahead of Cayman Islands and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Francisco Vallecillo Delgadillo opened the scoring for Nicaragua in the 20’, followed by a Josue Calderon Palacios score in the 25’.

Waldner Vasquez Pineda then sealed the 3-0 final scoreline with a goal in the 66’

Rounding out the group was Grenada getting the best of U.S. Virgin Islands 2-0.

Benjamin Ettienne was the hero of the day for Grenada, as his first half brace (11’, 27’) delivered the three points and a fourth-place finish in the group for Grenada.
