MIAMI, Florida – Both the United States and Mexico will continue their journeys in the 2023 FIFA Under-17 Men’s World Cup in Indonesia on Tuesday in the Round of 16.
After their second-place finish in Group E, the U.S. will take on Germany at the Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung.
The U.S. collected victories over South Korea and Burkina Faso to start the tournament before suffering a defeat to France in their group stage finale.
Nimfasha Berchimas leads the U.S. with three goals in the tournament, including a brace in the opening win versus South Korea. Cruz Medina and Keyrol Figueroa have also supplied goals for the U.S.
Mexico vs Mali
Mexico will face Mali in their Round of 16 affair at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya.
After an opening defeat to Germany, Mexico rebounded nicely with a draw against Venezuela and then a big 4-0 win over New Zealand to catapult themselves to a second-place finish in Group F.
Stephano Carrillo, who finished as the top scorer in Mexico’s title-winning campaign at the 2023 Concacaf Men’s Under-17 Championship, has paved the way with three goals for Mexico.
Tahiel Jimenez, Luis Ortiz, Fidel Barajas and Adrian Fernandez have also contributed scores for Mexico in Indonesia.
