DOMINICAN Republic – Group F and Group H got underway at the 2022 Concacaf Women’s
Under-17 Championship in the Dominican Republic on Sunday with the likes of Canada, Haiti, Jamaica and El Salvador all recording wins.
In Group F at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez in Santo Domingo, Canada topped host nation Dominican Republic, 10-0, to begin the tournament.
Rosa Maalouf (39’, 43’, 46’, 57’) scored four goals, while Renee Watson (67’, 69’) and
Amanda Allen (85’, 89’) each had braces.
Anna Hauer (90+4’) also chipped in with a score, on
top of an own goal from Adriana Adames (25’).
The other game in Group F on the day was Jamaica downing Bermuda 7-0.
Maya Raghunandanan (8’, 65’) bagged a brace and was joined on the scoresheet by Avery Johnson (12’), Tiny Seaton (16’), Tyesha Nelson (47’), Shaneil Buckley (78’) and Natoya Atkinson (83’)
The Estadio Panamericano in San Cristobal played host to the opening games in Group H, with El Salvador defeating Guatemala 6-0 in a duel between two Central American sides.
Breanna Medina (38’, 58’) and Karoline Velasquez (85’, 89’) each scored a pair of goals, while Cynthia Ramirez (7’) and Carolina Ayala (39’) also found the back of the net for the Cuscatlecas.
The nightcap saw an all-Caribbean affair with Haiti edging Cuba 2-0.
Chritlove Caramus gave the Haitians a 1-0 lead in the 34’ before Walandjina Cyriaque doubled the scoreline, 2-0, in the 43’ to help earn Haiti the three points.
