MIAMI, Florida – Host nation Mexico and defending champions the United States will be vying for top honors in the 2024 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship when they meet in the Final on Sunday at the headquarters of the Mexican Football Federation in Toluca, Mexico.

Mexico vs. United States

For the fourth straight time, Mexico and the United States will square off in the Final of the Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship after their respective victories in Friday’s semifinals.

The U.S. reached this stage by winning all three group matches and then posting a resounding 7-1 win versus Haiti in the semifinals.

Kennedy Fuller has led the way with eight goals, while Alexandra Pfeiffer and Mya Townes have contributed scoring as well, with five and four goals, respectively.

The U.S. clinched a berth to their sixth FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup thanks to Friday’s win and now are in pursuit of their sixth Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship crown and fourth in a row.

The previous three Final wins all came again Mexico, but El Tricolor will be looking to change that trend, especially with the home crowd at their back.

Mexico completed a perfect group stage and then emerged triumphant from their semifinal with Canada, winning 2-1 on an extra time goal from Vanessa Aguilar to punch their U17 Women’s World Cup ticket.

The goal scored by Canada in the semifinal marked the first goal that Mexico has conceded in the tournament, so a strong defensive front will be needed to keep a high-flying U.S. attack at bay.

Mexico are seeking to win their second CWU17 title and their first since the 2013 edition.

Canada vs. Haiti

Canada and Haiti will each try to finish the CWU17 on a high note when they face each other in the Third-Place Match on Sunday.

Canada suffered a tough 2-1 extra time loss to Mexico in the semifinals, but they did manage to become the first team to score against Mexico in the tournament.

The Canadians are led by talented striker Annabelle Chukwu, who has five goals across Canada’s four matches.

Haiti also have a prolific striker in their ranks in the form of Lourdjina Etienne, who has bagged seven goals in the CWU17, good for second-place in the tournament’s scoring table.

Haiti were defeated 7-1 by the U.S. in the semifinals but are strong in all phases and will be keen to collect a win in their finale.

It is the third time that Canada and Haiti have met in a CWU17 Third-Place Match, with Canada winning the previous two by 4-2 in 2016 and then 2-1 in 2018.
