MIAMI, Florida – The 2022 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship in the Dominican Republic continues on Monday with the teams in Group E and Group G returning to action for their second matches of the tournament.

Starting the day in Group E at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez in Santo Domingo will be Nicaragua and Trinidad and Tobago each looking for their first points of the tournament.

Nicaragua fell 10-0 to Mexico in their opener, while Trinidad and Tobago were on the wrong end of a 5-1 scoreline against Panama. There was a positive, though, for the Soca Warriors in that they scored a goal through Breana Smith, so a return to the scoresheet will be the aim of the Caribbean side.

Valerie Vargas led the way in the first match against Nicaragua with a hat trick, while Daniela Meza and Maribel Flores chipped in with braces.

That trio will try to crack a Panama defense that largely kept Trinidad and Tobago at bay. On the attacking end, Panama have ways to hurt opponents as well, namely Daniela Hincapie, who notched a hat trick against the Soca Warriors.

The Estadio Panamericano in San Cristobal will once again be the spot for all the action in Group G, beginning with the United States facing Puerto Rico.

The reigning champions were enormously impressive in their first match, a 20-0 triumph over Grenada in which both Charlotte Kohler and Shae Harvey scored four goals.

Meanwhile, Puerto Rico suffered a 4-1 defeat to Costa Rica in their opener, but hung tough with the Ticas for the duration of the match thanks to a goal from Fabiola Martinez.

The second match in Group G will see Costa Rica look to make it two in a row against Grenada. Four different players scored for the Central Americans in their opening win versus the Boricuas, and that spread-the-wealth approach will next take aim at a Grenada side looking to rebound from their defeat to the U.S.
