MIAMI – The United States lost 1-nil against Korea DPR in a tightly contested semifinal at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup on Wednesday at CFC Stadium in Santiago De Los Caballeros, Dominican Republic.
Katie Scott was called for a foul in the area in the 5’, which was overturned after a VAR review, as the U.S. avoided a nightmare start in the opening minutes.
Kimmi Ascanio got the ball in the box in the 40’ to find Micayla Johnson in the right side of the Korea DPR area, but the attempt was just wide of the crossbar as the teams went tied into the halftime break.
Ro Un-hyang broke the deadlock on behalf of Korea DPR, taking a chance from outside the box in the 69’ to strike a left-foot banger to the center of the net.
