MIAMI – The bronze medal is up for grabs when the United States faces the Netherlands in the third-place match of the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup on Saturday at Estadio Nemesio Camacho 'El Campin' in Bogotá, Colombia.

After their 1-nil defeat to Korea DPR in the semifinals, the U.S. will look to bounce back and leave Colombia on a high note. The Netherlands, who lost 2-nil against Japan in the other semifinal, will look to do the same.

The United States has presented a strong squad, including defender Savannah King, who led the defensive line in their last match and has accumulated 187 attempted line breaks to lead the team in that category.

Another critical member of the United States squad is goalkeeper Teagan Wy, who has shown security under the posts by making 66 saves throughout the tournament.

Pietra Tordin leads the U.S. with four goals. Emeri Adames leads the nation with four assists.

Netherlands goalkeeper Femke Liefting is one of the most prominent players for the Europeans, preventing 96 goals in six games. Fleur Stoit leads the scoring with two goals, finding the back of the net against Colombia and France.

Both teams underwent the emotional ride of winning a penalty shoot-out in the quarterfinals. The United States advanced 3-1 over Germany after a 2-2 draw in extra time. The Netherlands eliminated hosts Colombia, 3-nil in PKs, after a 2-2 result.

This is the first time these two national teams face each other in this year’s competition. The United States started its U-20 WWC journey in Group C, while the European side kicked off in Group F.

Playing their last game in Colombia 2024, both nations are prepared to take the pitch in their last match at this year’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and cement themselves among the best national teams on the podium.
