VANCOUVER, Canada – The Portland Thorns punched their ticket to the Finals of the 2024/25 Concacaf W Champions Cup with a 6-nil win against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Tuesday at BC Place in Vancouver, Canada.
Isabella D'Aquila opened the scoring in the 22’, assisted by Payton Linnehan, striking the ball into the bottom right corner.
D'Aquila scored her second in the 38’, pouncing on a rebound after a shot from Christine Sinclair was blocked by goalkeeper Morgan McAslan.
Payton Linnehan scored the third goal for the Thorns in the 54’, getting around the Vancouver goalkeeper McAslan to find the back of the net with a right-footed shot. D'Aquila returned the assist for her first of the night.
Alexa Spaanstra scored her first goal for Portland Thorns in the 58’, connecting with a first touch on the service from D'Aquila.
Christine Sinclair scored in the 85’, her first club goal on home soil, to mark another historic moment in her career.
Reyna Reyes added her name to the scoresheet in the 90'+5 with a header after D'Aquila sent the ball into the box to end the match with three assists.
With the victory, the Portland Thorns secured a top-two finish in Group B and advanced to the 2024/25 Concacaf W Champions Cup Finals.
