VANCOUVER, British Columbia – San Diego Wave won 2-nil against Vancouver Whitecaps FC in Group B of the 2024/25 Concacaf W Champions Cup on Tuesday at the BC Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The visitors were lively in attack early, with Hanna Lundkvist getting the ball in the box in the 20’ to supply Elyse Bennet a look towards goal the ball went off the right post.
Jaedyn Shaw had a look towards goal in 23’, but her shot in the area went over the crossbar.
Kimmi Ascanio pressured the home defense in the 46’, with a shot in the box to begin the second half.
Kaitlyn Torpey broke the deadlock in the 59’, sending the ball to the top right corner to place the NWSL side in the lead.
The U.S. side kept its tally going with Amirah Ali extending the lead in the 67’, placing the ball in the bottom left corner.
San Diego Wave extended its unbeaten record in the W Champions Cup to 3-0-0 to maintain the first place in the group. The California club will defend the top spot in Group B against Club America Femenil on October 16 at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego.
Vancouver Whitecaps FC is 1-0-2 through its frist three matches and will conclude the group stage against the Portland Thorns on October 15 at BC Place in Vancouver, British Columbia.
