Jamaica look to rebound in Group B against Guatemala

MIAMI, Florida – Jamaica will be looking to rebound from their opening 2-1 defeat to Panama when they take on Guatemala in Group B of League A of the Road to W Gold Cup on Sunday evening at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.

A young crop of Jamaica players went toe-to-toe with Panama before ultimately succumbing on a late winner by the Canaleras.

Jamaica are still searching for their first point, while Guatemala have three points after two matches. The Chapines were enormously impressive during the September games by bouncing back from an opening 3-0 loss at home to Panama to capture a 3-2 win in Panama in the second meeting between the two sides.

Guatemala can bring themselves level on points with Panama with a victory on Sunday and will be turning to Ana Martinez for inspiration. Martinez had a brace in that victory in Panama, while Maria Monterroso contributed the other score.

Leslie Ramirez has been active as well in attack with seven shots, and GK Alexia Estrada made 12 saves and five clearances in the two matches.

Ricshya Walker tallied the lone Jamaican goal on Wednesday night and will no doubt love to add to that total. Davia Richards also enjoyed a solid performance with two shots, while GK Aliyah Morgan had two saves and two clearances.
