Trinidad & Tobago, Puerto Rico on hunt for first victory

MIAMI, Florida – League A of the Road to W Gold Cup swings back into action on Friday with Trinidad and Tobago and Puerto Rico meeting in Group A at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

Each team was in action once during the September window and each side fell to Mexico. Puerto Rico succumbed 2-1 to El Tricolor, while Trinidad and Tobago were defeated 6-0.

There have been three previous meetings between the two sides, with Trinidad and Tobago holding a narrow 2W-0D-1L edge over the Boricuas.

Friday’s hosts will turn to the likes of Asha James, Raenah Campbell and Kimika Forbes for inspiration. James had a scoring chance in the opener versus Mexico, while Campbell was also able to register a shot.

In net, Forbes overcame a difficult first half and made four saves to record a clean sheet in the second half against Mexico.

Puerto Rico arrive with confidence after having gone toe-to-toe with Mexico and no doubt GK Sydney Martinez was a big part of that after making 11 saves in the loss to El Tricolor.

Madison Cox and Sarah Martinez delivered good performances as well. Cox had seven of the team’s 22 clearances, while Martinez registered a shot on goal.
