Haiti, Mexico seek bounce back in crucial match

Monterrey, Mexico – Game two of the second day of action in Group A will have Mexico and Haiti facing each other on Thursday night, with each seeking their first win in the 2022 Concacaf W Championship at the Estadio BBVA in Guadalupe.

In their debut game against current champions the United States, Haiti showed how far they have come and the improvements they have made as a National Team. Having the chances but not good fortune on their side, Haiti tried to surprise the U.S., but in the end the score read 3-0 for the North Americans.

Now, in their second test, they will look to show their strengths as a team against Mexico. As seen in their first match, Melchie Dumornay and Nerilia Mondesir will lead this team and oush to try to win their first three points in this CWC.

Dumornay was a headache for the U.S. defense, completing 42 passes, recovering two balls and taking one shot in helping her team create several great scoring chances.

Mexico will take to the pitch again after failing to have a dream debut at home, losing 1-0 to Jamaica. Even though they had chances, they could not deliver, leaving behind a crucial win in their quest to get a direct pass to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. It was also their first CWC loss against the Caribbean side.

However, captain Kenti Robles and key players like Stephany Mayor and Alicia Cervantes, alongside other members of the team, are ready to go for it again. Mayor completed 91 percent of her passes versus Jamaica, 35 in total, while attacker Diana Ordonez came within inches of scoring when her shot hit the post.

Mexico will have a second chance at proving to everyone how much their game evolved since Head Coach Monica Vergara took charge of the team in January 2021. With the backing of the crowd, Mexico will try to step up, play their game and lock in their first win of the tournament.

For both teams, it will be all to play for in what should be a match full of emotions from the beginning to the final whistle in Guadalupe.
