ÞORLAKSHOFN, Iceland -- Antiguan & Barbuda international goalkeeper Brentton Muhammad has signed with KF Aegir, the Icelandic third-tier side announced Saturday.
The 24-year-old, who featured for the Benna Boys in last year’s Caribbean Cup, signed a one-year deal following a successful four-day trial.
“I’m really excited,” said the five-time capped Muhammad. “I’m glad something found its way through. I felt I played well enough at the combine to catch some eyes, but in football sometimes…you’re not always the best fit for every club and people make different decisions. I’m just glad I have the opportunity to prove myself to Aegir now.”
Everton Gonsalves, President of the Antigua & Barbuda Football Association, was delighted with the news.
“This is not just around the corner, but at least it’s a big footballing nation, Iceland, and I just hope he can move from strength to strength, getting himself in the kind of form that comes with playing time and that he will be in good stead to help us as we commence our World Cup campaign,” said Gonsalves.
