MIAMI. - Guatemala, Suriname, Curaçao, and Nicaragua collected their second consecutive wins as the Second Round of Concacaf Qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup continued with its third matchday on Saturday.
Trinidad and Tobago also took three points to bounce back from a home draw last Wednesday. The Cayman Islands ended the night with a dramatic victory thanks to a goal in stoppage time.
Suriname’s Tyrone Conraad, Trinidad and Tobago’s Duane Muckette, and Bancy Hernandez or Nicaragua scored braces during their respective encounters.
Goalkeepers Nicholas Hagen of Guatemala, Etienne Vaessen of Suriname, Eloy Room of Curaçao, Miguel Rodriguez of Nicaragua, and Lachlin Lambert of the Cayman Islands finished the day with a clean sheet.
British Virgin Islands vs. Guatemala
Guatemala earned a 3-nil win over the British Virgin Islands in Group E at the A. O. Shirley Recreation Ground in Road Town, British Virgin Islands.
Oscar Castellanos opened the scoring in the 23' with a right-footed blast from outside the box.
Rubio Rubin extended the Guatemala lead in the 45'+4, scoring in his second consecutive match. Jose Ardon assisted with a header near the left post to redirect a cross into the box by Jose Morales.
Jose Pinto added a third for the visitors in the 47', striking from the penalty spot.
Nicholas Hagen collected his second consecutive clean sheet as Guatemala improved to two victories in the campaign.
The British Virgin Islands will visit the Dominican Republic on Tuesday on the final matchday of Concacaf qualifying for the current window.
Anguilla vs. Suriname
Suriname defeated Anguilla by a score of 4-nil in Group F at the Raymond E. Guishard in The Valley, Anguilla.
Tyrone Conraad struck in the 10', connecting on a pass across the box from Jaden Montnor, to place the visitors in the lead.
Shaquille Pinas extended the Suriname lead in the 63' by taking a swing of his left foot to send the ball to the bottom right corner of goal.
Conraad secured his second goal of the day in the 76' with a header in the box. The assist came from Montnor as the two players connected for a second time.
Sheraldo Becker forced an own goal from Anguilla defender Austin Steven in the 88' as Suriname concludes a six-point run for this window.
Next up for Anguilla is a trip to Puerto Rico on Tuesday in the final matchday.
Bahamas vs. Trinidad and Tobago
Trinidad and Tobago took a 7-1 win against the Bahamas in Group B at the SKNFA Technical Centre in Basseterre, Saint Kitts, and Nevis.
Malcolm Shaw struck from short distance for the opening goal in the 6', connecting on a service into the box from Duane Muckette.
Alvin Jones extended the lead from a penalty kick in the 14', following a tackle in the box on Trinidad and Tobago defender Triston Hodge.
Duane Muckette got on the scoreboard in the 43' with a long-range strike. Muckette extended his tally in the 45'+1 with a strike inside the left side of the box.
Reon Moore continued the goalscoring in the 56', collecting his second goal in consecutive matches and bringing the Trinidad and Tobago lead to five.
Malcolm Shaw continued to the offensive rhythm for the visitors with a diagonal strike in the box in the 66'.
Nathaniel James opened his account in the 84' with a menacing strike from the right side of the box.
Wood Julmis took one back for the Bahamas in the 87', pouncing on a rebound in the box to deny the clean sheet.
The Soca Warriors enter a pause in their qualifying journey with four points in hand. The Bahamas will stay in Basseterre to face Saint Kitts and Nevis on Tuesday.
Aruba vs. Curaçao
Curaçao won 2-nil at Arube in Group C at the Guillermo Prospero Trinidad Sports Complex in Oranjestad, Aruba.
Juninho Bacuna broke the deadlock in the 59', putting the finishing touch on an individual play inside the box from Jearl Margaritha.
Xander Severina struck in the 90’+6 to secure the three points and a second consecutive win for Curaçao.
Aruba will face Saint Lucia in its next encounter on Tuesday in Bridgetown, Barbados.
Belize vs. Nicaragua
Nicaragua earned a 4-nil victory over Belize in Group D at the FFP Stadium in Belmopan, Belize.
Bancy Hernandez placed the visitors in the lead in the 40' with a strike from the top of the box.
Hernandez was brought down in the box in the 54’, leading to a Nicaragua penalty kick. Juan Barrera converted the spot kick in the 56' for the second of the match.
Bancy Hernandez struck again in the 65' for his second of the night and a third for the visiting squad.
Jaime Moreno scored in the 89' to convert on a second penalty conceded by Belize.
Nicaragua currently leads the group with two wins. Belize will face Guyana on Tuesday in Bridgetown, Barbados.
Cayman Islands vs. Antigua and Barbuda
The Cayman Islands won 1-nil against Antigua and Barbuda in Group A at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex in George Town, Cayman Islands.
Joshwa Campbell scored the lone goal in the 90’+1 with a header at the right post. Trey Ebanks provided the cross for the match-winning goal.
The Cayman Islands started its campaign with three points and will travel to face Cuba on Tuesday. Antigua and Barbuda have one point in two matches played.
