PROVIDENCE, Guyana – Pernell Schultz scored two first-half goals and Guyana defeated visiting Grenada 2-0 in a friendly on Sunday at the Guyana National Stadium.
The Golden Jaguars remained unbeaten in 2015, improving to 2-1-0 as they continue to prepare for a two-legged June meeting with St. Vincent & the Grenadines in the second round of CONCACAF qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
A trio of foreign-based players – Matthew Briggs, Neil Danns and goalkeeper Anthony Whyte – made their Guyana debuts.
In just his second international appearance, Schultz netted in the 18th and 32nd minutes.
The Grenadians were reduced to 10 men in the 75th minute, when Shannon Phillip received his second yellow card.
Grenada will also start its World Cup qualifying campaign in June against Puerto Rico.
