AUSTRALIA – After game one of Group D against England, the Haitian Women’s National Team has been a topic of conversation around the world, with fans eager to see the Caribbean island’s talent once again. They will get another chance against China on Friday at the Perth Rectangular Stadium in Perth, Australia.
Les Grenadieres showcased their talent to the world in how they managed to pressure the current European champions, putting the names of their players on the international football map.
Even though they lost their first game 1-0, Haiti showed they can be a problem when it comes to attacking and controlling the game. Many players stood out in the match against England, with Melchie Durmonay being the key player for the islanders.
Dumornay attacked, showed presence and almost helped deliver a result in Haiti’s first ever Women’s World Cup match. Named the Revelation of the Year in France this year, the 19-year-old Dumornay lived up to expectations and will be the player that China will have to plan how to stop.
Haiti GK Kerly Theus was also one of the topics of conversation by making double-digit saves during the match to help anchor the Haiti defense.
A very similar case happened with China, who also lost by a single goal, 1-0, against Denmark in their Women’s World Cup opener.
Their most important player at the moment is GK Xu Huan, as she stopped 12 chances against the Scandinavians, who were eager to score in their debut after being absent from the tournament for 16 years.
Another player that Haiti will have to plan how to stop is MF Wang Shuang, who had three attempts on goal throughout the game for China.
Hungry to get their first Women’s World Cup win, Haiti knows it is all or nothing in their next match against China. Both teams want to succeed and will show it on the pitch in Perth.
