MIAMI – The 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League continued Monday with three Group B encounters in League A as the tournament’s group stage nears its conclusion.
Jamaica and Honduras played out a hard-fought draw and secured the top two spots in the group. Both sides advanced to the tournament's quarterfinals.
Trinidad and Tobago won against Cuba, while Nicaragua completed a comeback to defeat French Guiana. Nicaragua, with seven points, finished in third place on goal difference, followed by Trinidad and Tobago with five points, Cuba with three points, and French Guiana with one point.
Jamaica vs. Honduras
Jamaica and Honduras drew nil-nil at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica in a meeting for the top spot in the group.
Antony Lozano had one of the better opportunities for Los Catrachos in the 31’, but was denied by Jamaica goalkeeper Andre Blake.
Kaheim Dixon had a good look for the Reggae Boyz in the 69’, but his shot from outside the box was just wide of the post.
Blake finished the match with six saves and collected a second consecutive clean sheet and third overall this campaign. Honduras goalkeeper Edrick Menjívar registered his second clean sheet of the tournament.
Trinidad and Tobago vs. Cuba
Trinidad and Tobago won 3-1 against Cuba at Dwight Yorke Stadium in Scarborough, Trinidad and Tobago.
Dantaye Gilbert gave the hosts the lead early in the 13’ with a chip over the goalkeeper inside the box.
Joevin Jones doubled the Trinidad and Tobago lead in the 38’ with a right-footed strike across goal. With the goal, Jones took his tally to five to extend his lead as the all-time top scorer in the CNL for the Soca Warriors.
Saves by Cuba goalkeeper Raiko Arozarena in the 41’ and 43’ prevented the hosts from further extending their lead before the half.
Yasnier Matos struck in the 62’ to cut the deficit for Cuba, scoring from close range following a pass from Dairon Reyes.
Real Gil scored in the 65’ to secure the win for Trinidad and Tobago with his individual play and finish inside the box.
With its first win of the campaign, Trinidad and Tobago secured fourth place in Group B and maintained League A status and qualified for the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup preliminaries. Cuba finished fifth in the group and was relegated to League B for the next edition of the CNL.
Nicaragua vs. French Guiana
Nicaragua defeated French Guiana 3-2 at Estadio Nacional in Managua, Nicaragua.
Ludovic Baal opened the scoring in the 16’ to give Guyana the lead with a left-footed attempt inside the box.
The hosts equalized in the 54’ through a Jaime Moreno header inside the penalty area following a cross from Josué Quijano.
Jules Haabo reclaimed the lead for the visitors in the 62’ with a close-range strike.
Juan Barrera tied the match at 2-2 in the 79’ before Marvin Fletes completed the comeback for Nicaragua with a header in the 84’ off a corner kick.
With the win, Nicaragua finished third in Group B with seven points to maintain League A status and qualify for the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup preliminary rounds. French Guiana finished sixth in the group and will play in League B in the next edition.
